Tung Po Kitchen opened in 1992, back when the cooked food centre did not even have air conditioning installed. Industrial fans hang from the white-tiled walls, covered by old movie posters from a bygone era.
Tung Po’s different from most restaurants located inside cooked food centers and wet markets, popular among locals in search of no-frills cheap but delicious eats, the restaurant’s energetic owner Robby Cheung.
Wearing an apron and a pair of white wellington boots with tops scissored into zig-zag shapes, Cheung is often seen doing the splits, drinking, dancing and taking selfies with customers.

This place is all about claypot-cooked rice and their deep-fried oyster with eggs For the former, go for the mixed “Chinese sausages”, consisting of pork & pig liver.
Four Seasons is the granddaddy of claypot rice on Temple Street, it’s been serving the hungry folks of Mong Kok for more than 30 years. The moment claypot season hits, massively long lines start forming outside. The claypot rice is cooked using a charcoal fire and there are 30 different varieties you can select. Try going for the chicken and Chinese sausage claypot rice, where the rice boasts a great aroma, tender chicken and a cracking soy sauce flavour.

So the name sounds a bit dodgy, but rest assured, there’s no dog meat involved in any Block 18’s noodles. The name doggie’s noodle actually refers to their specialty glutinous rice noodles. Here at this street food joint, tuck in a hearty bowl of noodles served in rich broth with liberal helpings of mushrooms and minced meat. Their fake shark fin soup with duck is popular, too. Block 18’s noodles make for a perfect meal to refuel after a day of shopping around Tshim Sha Tsui.
