While okonomiyaki joints are dime a dozen in Shimokitazawa, none of the others get quite as busy as Hiroki. Although the savoury pancake dish is most often associated with Osaka, this restaurant makes it Hiroshima-style, with ingredients sourced from the southern city. Unlike Osaka’s okonomiyaki, in which the batter and fillings are mixed together before cooking, the Hiroshima version is prepared by spreading out the batter on a hotplate, and then topping it with cabbage, pork, noodles, egg and other ingredients. Hiroki also offers noodle-free versions; however, first-timers in particular will want to go the whole hog, which is expertly prepared right in front of your eyes if you’re lucky enough to grab a counter seat. Seafood options are available for those averse to meat.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo opened on 16th June 2023 on the former Toshimaen site and provides fans the ultimate opportunity to journey behind-the-scenes of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films to learn about the remarkable world of film production.
This is the largest indoor Harry Potter attraction in the world and the first Warner Bros. Studio Tour to open in Asia. Building on the success of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – the Making of Harry Potter which has welcomed over 17 million visitors since opening in 2012, the Studio Tour Tokyo features exclusive sets only available at this location.
The Studio Tour invites fans to step into authentic sets, see spellbinding costumes and come face to face with magical creatures while learning filmmaking secrets. Visitors journey through iconic locations from the Harry Potter series, as they enter the Great Hall of Hogwarts, board the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 ¾, venture into the depths of the Forbidden Forest, wander the cobbles of Diagon Alley or wonder at the mighty Ministry of Magic.
Hand-crafted by filmmakers, the sets have been created using the original methods and techniques, allowing visitors to see up-close the talent and craftmanship that went into one of the most successful film series of all time.
In addition, fans can get hands-on in a range of interactive experiences. Visitors can take part in a green screen experience riding a broomstick, see themselves as a moving portrait in the halls of Hogwarts and even step into the crowd of a Quidditch match.

Once you step inside, you can’t help but notice the wooden spoons and pottery that graced the entrance while you take off your shoes to walk on the smooth wood floors, making it clean enough for toddlers to crawl on the floor, and this they do in pairs, such is the popularity of this cafe with young families and sea changers escaping from Tokyo and other big cities on the mainland.
The menu here feature locally sourced vegetarian dishes and while there are only half a dozen choices, most come in sets consisting of five or so different plates in a tasting menu sized serving.
The one hour drive on the motorway north from Naha, with views of verdant subtropical mountains, and glimpses of the tranquil blue seas, is the perfect way to meditate and take in the country air on the way to Cafe Koku.
